The College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME) is pleased to announce the election of Medical Center Hospital’s Chief Information Officer, Gary Barnes, FCHIME to the Board of Trustees. CHIME was formed with the dual objective of serving the professional development needs of healthcare CIOs, and advocating the more effective use of information management within healthcare. CHIME currently has 1395 members.

MCH CEO Elected to Statewide Position

William W. “Bill” Webster, FACHE, chief executive officer of Medical Center Hospital in Odessa, has been elected chairman-elect of the Texas Hospital Association’s 2010 Board of Trustees. Webster takes office January 1, 2010 and will assume the role of chairman on January 1, 2011. He will serve as chairman of the Association during the next state legislative session; during which, significant health care budget issues will be debated.

Medical Center Hospital has received the 2009 clinical excellence award for Orthopedics Surgery from HealthGrades, the leading independent healthcare ratings company.  This award places Medical Center Hospital's clinical outcomes in the top five percent nationally for orthopedic surgery.

Area Hospitals to Announce Plans for Tobacco Free Campuses

Midland Memorial Hospital, Odessa Regional Medical Center, and Medical Center Hospital are proud to partner together to promote a healthier lifestyle by adopting a "Tobacco Free" policy on all three campuses. As a part of this initiative, all three hospitals will ban the use of any tobacco product on their properties starting July 1st, 2009.  This will include private offices that are leased and/or owned by each of the individual hospitals.  These new policies will apply to all employees, physicians, patients and visitors of each facility.
